Job description:
The Chicago Marriott O’Hare is looking for an Events Meeting Manager (EMM) to join our awesome sales team! Previous Hotel Sales experience preferred.
Overview:
The Events Meeting Manager will be responsible for managing group room blocks and meeting space for average to large-sized assigned groups while supporting the team to achieve the overall success of the operations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage, coordinate, and execute all details and aspects of the events turned over by the sales team and assigned to the event meeting manager.
- Ensure that events progress seamlessly by following established procedures, collaborating with other employees, and ensuring accuracy.
- Greets the customer during the event phase and hands-off to the operations team for the execution of details.
- Ensures billing accuracy and conducts bill reviews with the customer prior to processing the final bill.
- Identifies operational challenges associated with the group and determines how to best work with the team and customer to solve any challenges and/or develop alternative solutions.
- Responds in a quick, timely, friendly, professional manner.
- Uses appropriate judgment to integrate current trends in event management and event design.
- Acts as liaison between sales and the customer throughout the event process (pre and post-event).
- Participate in customer site inspections and assists with the sales process, as necessary.
- Conduct formal pre and post event meetings as required to review and communicate group needs and feedback.
- Facilitate various meetings as needed to communicate needs such as banquet event order meetings, block reviews, etc.
- Assists in the sales process and revenue forecasting for customer groups.
- Up sells products and services throughout the event process.
- Forecasts group sleeping rooms and event revenue (catering and audio visual) for the groups.
- Solicit feedback from the operations team to identify areas for improvement as needed to enhance the event experience.
- Performs other duties as requested by management.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of progressive hotel Sales Catering/Convention Services experience.
- Marriott Hotels systems training.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
- Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
Availability:
- Must be available to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
